These days, with an adoring husband, and her kids finally out of the house, she can be found most days sitting in front of her computer in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, dreaming up captivating and fast-paced story lines and writing about strong and interesting women, their relationships with men (good and bad), involved in exciting, mysterious, and often romantic situations.
What People Are Saying About My Books
Debra Burroughs has made a mystery reader out of me. ‘The Scent of Lies,’ caught my attention on the first page and kept me engaged until the last. Main character, Emily Parker, is a likable, vulnerable, sassy, hotheaded, smart woman surrounded by loving friends. When she discovers a woman’s phone number in her late private-detective husband’s jacket, she begins to realize she doesn’t know a thing about why her husband was killed six months ago. Her rabid thoughts begin to form, she is left to wonder, ‘Was our marriage a lie?’
Right from the start, it’s evident, Emily is fortunate to have a wonderful group of contemporary friends who are familiar characters to most reader’s lives. Burroughs has created strong, colorful, loyal women who perceive the bonds of friendship through thick and thin. Scent of Lies is a good book that is a fully rounded story with juicy bits of intrigue, romance, stubbornness, greed, kindness, friendship and hope for the future.
I love mysteries with a touch of romance and now…I have found a new author. I loved this book and could not put it down. It has just the right amount of suspense, romance, happy tears, sad tears, family situations and a murder mystery. I have already had another book by this same author sent to my Kindle and cannot wait to get started.
Some of my favorite authors are James Patterson, Sandra Brown, Toni Anderson, Mary Higgins Clark, Kate White, Suzanne Ferrell, etc., and I have just added Debra Burroughs to that list. I would recommend this well-written book to anyone and everyone!
I was first drawn to this novel by its beautiful and intriguing cover. I read the blurb and the first chapters’ excerpt and just had to buy it. I’m glad that I did.
The Lake House Secret is a masterful blend of mystery and romance. It kept my unwavering interest, page after page, as new clues led to new assumptions and suspects. The portraying of the interesting characters was exciting, the unfolding of the mystery thrilling, and the blossoming relationship of Jenessa and Michael heartwarming.
This was definitely a 5-star read!
