Welcome to this blog hop. What is a blog hop? Basically, it’s a way that readers can discover new authors, because with bookstores closing and publishers not promoting new authors as much, we need to find a way to introduce readers to authors they may not see in their local bookstore.

Here you have the chance to find many new authors—and here you’ll find information about me, what I’m working on now, and THE PURSUIT OF LIES, the 4th book in my Paradise Valley Mystery series. Also see links below to five other authors you might like to check out.

I’d like to thank fellow author Rita Herron for tagging me to participate. Click the link below to find out about her latest book DYING TO TELL.

In this particular hop, I and my fellow authors, in their respective blogs, have answered 10 questions where you get to learn about our current work in progress, as well as some insights into our process, from characters and inspirations to plotting and cover decisions. I hope you enjoy it!

Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!

1: What is the working title of your book? The Pursuit of Lies, A Paradise Valley Mystery: Book Four

2: Where did the idea come from for the book? This is the fourth book in the series. I considered stopping after Book Three because the ongoing mystery of Emily’s husband’s murder was solved. But I kept hearing from my readers that they wanted more stories about the group of friends in the book, so I came up with the story of Colin, Emily’s love interest being accused of a crime that she would have to solve. She is compelled to find the truth, whether Colin did it or not.

3: What genre does your book come under? Romantic Suspense

4: Which actors would you choose to play your main characters in a movie rendition?
Emily Parker: Hilarie Burton
Det. Colin Andrews: Colin Egglesfield
Evan Parker: Daniel Craig
ADA Allison Laraway: Rosamund Pike
Kevin Bates: Tom Cruise
Officer Ernie Kaufmann: Jim Belushi

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? A sensual and gripping story of six friends that are determined to help each other solve a murder when one of their own is accused–think “Sex and the City” meets “Nancy Drew”.

6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency? My book is self-published. I determined to learn the industry myself and have done very well at it. The Pursuit of Lies is my 6th book.

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? 2 months

8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? That’s hard to say because my stories are sensual and romantic without the graphic sex scenes. The suspense is face-paced and gripping, but without the blood and gore. Comments from the readers are that they wished they were part of this tight-knit circle of friends.

9: Who or what inspired you to write this book? I’d have to say my own group of friends inspired me. Some of the characters are based on people within my own circle and the town of Paradise Valley is based on a town not far from where I live.

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? I think most people can see themselves in this town and being friends with the characters in this series of stories. I’ve received many comments from readers that they are going to miss these characters when the series is over because they’ve become like friends. Even my editor has said she thinks about the characters long after she’s finished with one of my books, that they just stick with you.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my next book coming out in February, 2013, The Pursuit of Lies, a Paradise Valley Mystery: Book Four. Please feel free to leave me a comment. I’d love to hear from you.
